The current documents reviewed for the Kohler K-6366 and the 2024 ordinary-residential model-code provisions do not establish one universal horizontal perimeter gap for every freestanding tub. That bounded finding does not remove product, code, accessibility, maintenance, or professional requirements for a particular project.

What has to work below and around the tub?
The K-6366 specification (PDF) lists K-7265 as a required drain. The K-7265 drain specification (PDF) documents that separate product’s assembly. That does not mean it ships in the tub carton. Schedule it separately unless the actual order documents prove inclusion.
Support and level
Provide adequate floor or subfloor support and a level finished floor. Product values do not approve the structure.
Maintain access
Retain access to plumbing connections for maintenance and coordinate any service opening with the project team.
Deliver and dry fit
Confirm doorways, turns, lifting, and finish protection. Position and dry-fit the bath, shroud, drain, and overflow.
Align and leak test
Establish drain height from actual conditions, then have the responsible installer complete the manufacturer-directed fill-to-overflow leak test.

When do you need a professional or local code review?
Vertical air gap
The 2024 IRC P2902.3.1 and 2024 IPC 608.16.1 address conditional vertical backflow separation. Do not select or apply a numeric air gap until the adopted code, outlet category, wall proximity, and manufacturer instructions are confirmed with the licensed plumber and AHJ.
When ADA bathtub clearance applies
The 2010 ADA Standards, 607.1–607.2 include a 30-inch-wide clearance along the tub length only for an ADA-scoped accessible bathtub. Do not apply it automatically to an ordinary private residential bath. Other laws may apply.
Temperature limiting
The 2024 IRC P2713.3 model provision requires covered bathtub valves to have or be supplied by a listed water-temperature-limiting device with a maximum setting of 120°F, subject to its exception and access rules. Verify the adopted code, amendments, exception applicability, device, access, and manufacturer instructions with a licensed plumber and the AHJ.
Structure and floor
A manufacturer planning value does not prove structural adequacy. Refer concentrated loads, framing changes, penetrations, and existing conditions to the appropriate qualified professional under the applicable local code.

Is a live catalog page the same as availability?
On July 15, 2026, manufacturer pages were live for Kohler K-6366-0, Delta T5759-SSWL, and Delta R3500-WL. Delta’s direct pages and Ferguson item 7740696 showed no direct-channel availability on that date. That supports only a dated, channel-specific observation. It does not prove broad stock, future availability, or discontinuation.
